Carved Red Jade Dragon has Two Sides

This is one of three pieces Arley bought back in the Seventies from an offering that outshone anything we had seen before. It measures about two by one and a half by three quarters of an inch thick, and weighs 1.13 ounces.

The dark red carving is the Dragon devouring a fish. On the back, gourds grow in delicate green, also deeply rendered.As far as we know, this piece has never been worn, but it could, because there are holes along the edge and at the top placed so that it can hang nicely from either a cord or chain with a jump ring.

This piece is old carved natural jadeite.
