This is one of three jade necklaces Arley bought in 1977 from a Chinese salesman who visited the Sawdust Festival that year. The jade quality and color struck her, and she was delighted to add them to her collection.
Except for the figure, the pendant is red all the way through; the skill with which the artist has used the transition from red to green colored jade to give a feeling of depth and lively movement to the water dragon is impressive.
