Biwa Pearls, Gold Shells in Six Foot Necklace
(includes matching earrings)
This necklace is seventy-two inches long, so you can wear it big, or doubled, or tripled, or whatever, as the mood strikes you:

Arley bought these natural color Biwa pearls in 1976, added some gold shells in the right places, and had them all strung on knotted silk. (Biwa means fresh water pearls from Lake Biwa in Japan, back then relatively unpolluted and still productive.) The twelve gold shells, each marked 14K, are each about a half inch across. Then Arley built earrings to match. These earrings are for pierced ears only, and each has more tiny gold shells in with their pearls. (The name of the two little shells on top of each earring is "Precious Wentletrap".)
