THEHOWARDCOLLECTION

This pendant was created in 1976 by Arley Howard, who designed and made it for her beloved mother-in-law, Heloise Howard, as a birthday present particularly appropriate for a Libra. Heloise cherished it, and wore it on special occasions until her death in 1996. Although it is twenty five years old, the pendant and necklace have had good loving care and are in excellent condition.

The gleaming tiny (one eighth of an inch) jewel is an Australian Opal, saved for Arley by one of her stone dealer friends. The gold sand dollar was cast from our mold of a real sand dollar another friend found on a Florida Beach. (She got a free sand dollar in gold back along with the return of the fragile, lovely little real one she had lent us.) Unlike the delicate little real sand dollar, the gold replica is solid and sturdy. It's a half an inch across, as shown in the image to the right. Two gold jump rings keep it aligned on the delicate gold chain, which is made of minute interlocked flat links, and lies smoothly on the neck. The chain is eighteen inches long and is marked "14K" and "Italy". The shell itself is not marked, but we guarantee it to be 14K gold. The whole necklace weighs one tenth of a troy ounce.
