THEHOWARDCOLLECTION

Our Story

Paul Howard was raised in Southern California, served as an Army Air Corps pilot in WWII, graduated from Cal Tech as a Mechanical Engineer, worked for Procter and Gamble and Hunt-Wesson Foods, served his communities and raised a wonderful family until 1972 when his wife died and his world crumbled. He quit work and, at the age of 48, became a useless playboy.
Arley Sullivan was raised in New Jersey, joined the Marines right after High School, then worked as a hair stylist, waitress, restaurant and entertainment editor, and, after her marriage, apartment house owner. She divorced in 1963, learned jewelry design, then supported her three kids by selling her jewelry in her own Art Gallery and the Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach, California where she was one of the elected Directors.

Then, in 1975, the working mom and the playboy met and became us.

The world swirled. We married and kept falling more and more in love anyway. This process is still going on after thirty years, and is our deepest blessing. Arley taught engineer Paul to carve wax, and he evolved into a full time sculptor while she became a combination jewelry designer, poodle breeder, and gourmet cook.

Now, Paul is 84 and Arley is 76, and we're dropping away the accumulations of those busy, happy years to live a simpler life. We have sold the poodle kennels, sold the fantastic dream home we designed, and are working now to list the rest of our stuff in these pages. We hope you want some of it.
