THEHOWARDCOLLECTION

Here's a beautiful pocket watch that Arley took as security for a little advance from her Gallery thirty years ago to a person who would be right back with money to redeem the watch. We know nothing about it except what it is. There are markings, but none say it is gold. It appears to be base metal which was been plated with three different colors of gold.

Hearts, birds, shields, flowers are the principle motifs in the carvings. The front and back are similiar yet different. The intials in the dominant shield are hard to read, but Arley, who sees a lot better than Paul, sees them as "A D F". The various inside markings are "Fahys" with a Caduseus, "15 Jewels", "National Watch Company, USA", and "Guaranteed to Wear Permanently".
Both the front and the back of the watch pop open. The watch is one and one half inches in diameter and three eighths of an inch thick. It has no battery, so you have to wind it up to make it run. It has clearly been used, but is still in excellent condition and keeps fine time.
This old watch would look really fine on the old Gold Slide Chain in the Gold Collection.
