Lalique Perfume Burner "Les Sirenes"

We aren't in on just how ladies burned perfume a few generations ago, back when this burner was new. There must have been a wick with a fitting to match the three-eighths inch thread inside the hole in the top. There must have been a cap for snuffing. These are gone, but what remains is the body of the burner and the ten sirens that Rene Lalique designed into it.

We have enjoyed this burner always as just a lovely thing in itself, and never had the impulse to actually put oil into it. When we thought about selling it, though, our attitude seemed a little lame, so we located a new, modern wick and wick tube that fit, and are including them in the price. The new fitting just sits in the hole instead of being threaded in liked the original one doubtless was, but it looks right at home and should work beautifully if you should decide to add fuel and fire up.

This piece has the raised, molded "R LALIQUE" on the bottom, and has also been hand signed to the right of that, " R. Lalique France ".
